Maharishi – Photojournalist Shirt

Maharishi – Photojournalist Shirt

My favorite movie of all time is “Apocalypse Now” so it’s a rare treat that I get to combine that movie and SSD (unless you follow our IG account).

For years I’ve threatened to show up to SHOT Show dressed as the Photojournalist, played by Dennis Hopper. Sure, I’ve got Tigerstripe coming out of my ears, but that Montagnard shirt is a tough nut to crack. That is until now.

London’s Maharishi has introduced the Photojournalist Shirt, featuring “Hill Tribe Embroidery.” Of course, I ordered it. It’s not a stitch for stitch copy, but you can definitely see the inspiration.

I purchased the Black version, but they also make an OD one. Made from crushed hemp, the shirt is very comfortable. The embroidery is also very nicely done but the full length sleeves are a bit long to be an accurate copy. Additionally, it’s European sizing, so go up one.

I’ve been a Maharishi customer for years and they’ve created some amazing camouflage patterns and styles. It’s always been cool to return from London with a surprise or two. But these days, they have a store front in New York, and even an order from the home office is dispatched the the US in a matter of days so I don’t have to wait fit a trip overseas.

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

Look for the photojournalist at a SHOT Show in the future.
